Are you a commercially driven Business Development professional with experience selling into Environment, Health & Safety, environmental consulting, industrial, state and local government, or engineering services markets?

We are representing a well-established, employee-owned, multidisciplinary consulting, engineering, environmental and construction services firm seeking a Business Development Manager to support continued growth across its Environment, Health & Safety / EHS practice, in New England.

This is an excellent opportunity for a relationship-led business developer who understands how to identify client needs, build trust with technical teams, and open new opportunities across industrial, municipal, state/local government, construction, healthcare, insurance, and regulated environments.

The Opportunity

The Business Development Manager will play a key role in expanding the firm’s client base, strengthening strategic partnerships, and driving new revenue opportunities across the EHS and environmental services market.

You will work closely with technical leaders, division heads, project teams and senior leadership to identify, pursue and close new business opportunities.

The role requires a consultative, solutions-led approach and the ability to connect clientchallenges with the firm’s broader capabilities across EHS compliance, environmental permitting, auditing, safety consulting, emergency planning, hazardous materials, training, regulatory support and risk management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive new client acquisition and support a target of at least 10% annual growth in new clients and business opportunities.
  • Develop and execute business development strategies focused on Environment, Health & Safety / EHS services.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities with state and local government clients, industrial customers and regulated organizations.
  • Build relationships with decision-makers across environmental, facilities, operations, safety, compliance and executive leadership teams.
  • Generate, qualify and quantify warm leads to support business development growth goals.
  • Research potential clients, competitors, market dynamics and emerging EHS trends.
  • Support RFP/RFQ processes, proposal development and submission strategies.
  • Work cross-functionally with project teams to ensure client expectations and deliverables are met.
  • Partner with technical specialists and division leaders to translate complex environmental and EHS capabilities into clear client value propositions.
  • Prepare growth reports, interpret market data and provide practical recommendations to leadership.
  • Identify relevant trade associations, conferences, industry events and networking opportunities.
  • Maintain a disciplined pipeline of opportunities from lead generation through close.
  • Represent the business professionally in client meetings, presentations, trade shows and industry events.

The successful candidate will bring a strong commercial mindset, excellent communication skills and the ability to develop long-term client relationships in technical or regulated markets.

  • Required Skills & Experience
  • BS/BA in Business, Marketing, Environmental Studies, Engineering, Safety, or a related field preferred.
  • Proven ability to develop new business and grow client relationships.
  • Strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • High-energy, proactive and commercially focused approach.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with technical, operational and leadership teams.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Creative, solutions-oriented approach to identifying and advancing opportunities.
  • Experience supporting proposals, RFPs/RFQs or technical service sales preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; CRM experience is beneficial.
