The firm is a specialist litigation funder providing bespoke funding solutions to law firms, CMCs and Insolvency Practitioners. We are seeking a commercially minded Head of Finance to lead the finance function and play a key role in supporting the firm's growth, investment strategy, and governance, as well as leading the finance department, which is supported by a junior team.
This is a senior, hands-on role combining financial leadership, strategic insight, risk mitigation and operational delivery. The successful candidate will be responsible for financial control, forecasting, funding analytics, and stakeholder reporting, while acting as a trusted adviser to the CEO.
Key Responsibilities- Financial Leadership & Control
- Lead and develop the finance function, ensuring robust financial controls, policies, and processes
- Own month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close, including statutory accounts and audit
- Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards, tax requirements, and regulatory obligations
- Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisers, banks, payment providers (including FX strategy and management), and other professional advisers
- Financial Planning & Analysis
- Prepare and maintain budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial models
- Deliver insightful management reporting, including profitability, cash flow, and portfolio performance
- Monitor funding deployment, returns, and cash headroom against committed and deployed capital across the litigation portfolio
- Litigation Funding & Portfolio Oversight
- Work alongside the credit/risk team to develop and maintain financial models for individual cases and portfolios
- Work closely with the credit/legal team to assess funding structures and outcomes for new and existing borrowers
- Contribute to overall portfolio monitoring and risk management strategy
- Strategic & Commercial Support
- Act as a key business partner to the CEO and senior leadership
- Support fundraising, capital structuring, and ongoing lender/investor reporting, including financial modelling and performance analysis
- Provide financial input into growth initiatives, new products/models, and strategic opportunities
- Help scale finance systems and processes in line with business growth
- Governance & Risk
- Support strong governance, internal controls, and financial risk management
- Partner with the credit/risk teams to ensure financial risks are identified, measured, and appropriately mitigated across the portfolio
- Contribute to board reporting and investor communications
- Essential
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
- Significant post-qualification experience in a senior finance role
- Strong financial control, reporting, and forecasting experience
- Advanced financial modelling and analytical skills
- Experience working in a professional services, financial services, or investment-led environment
- Confident communicator, able to engage clearly with senior stakeholders
- Team leadership & management

- Experience in litigation finance, alternative investments, private credit, or legal services
- Experience supporting fundraising or investor reporting
- Knowledge of regulatory environments relevant to legal or financial services
