Senior Financial Analyst / Senior Investment Analyst (Revised)
Position Title: Senior Financial Analyst / Senior Investment Analyst
Reports To: Chief Commercial Officer
Location: London, United Kingdom (Hybrid-working flexibility)
We are seeking an experienced Chartered Accountant/ Management Accountant to act as a Senior Investment Analyst for a Law firm, performing financial modelling, portfolio reporting, legal research, and borrower relations. The ideal candidate will possess strong financial acumen, the ability to conduct in-depth credit and investment analysis, and demonstrate leadership in mentoring junior analysts. This role will work closely with the Chief Commercial Officer and President in evaluating investment strategies and improving financial processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Analysis & Modelling:
- Develop and maintain financial models to assess individual financing opportunities.
- Lead credit evaluation and diligence of underlying borrowers and collateral.
- Model complex scenarios to support investment decision-making.
- Maintain cash flow forecasts and scenario analyses to ensure cash needs and sources are well balanced.
Legal Evaluation:
- Work with Chief Legal Officer to evaluate legal framework and evaluate the risks and opportunities for potential fundings.
- Evaluate budgets and service providers to identify reasonableness, efficacy and alignment.
Reporting:
- Undertake calculations to evaluate and compare individual investment performance as well as portfolio and risk concentrations.
- Prepare reports to the Investment Committee to enable it to evaluate and compare investment and borrower opportunities.
- Support in the development and maintenance of accurate records and regulatory compliance.
Leadership & Collaboration:
- Mentor and guide junior analysts, providing feedback and contributing to their professional development.
- Work with service providers and borrowers, including lawyers, experts, software developers, administrators, to ensure seamless operations.
- Assist in building and improving financial tools, processes, and procedures to enhance infrastructure.
Strategic Contributions:
- Stay current on legal and market developments, products, and industry trends that could impact the firm’s investments.
- Support the firm’s strategic objectives by conducting thorough industry analysis and producing high-quality investment research.
Qualifications
- Mandatory Professional Certification: Candidate must be a fully qualified Chartered Accountant (e.g., ICAEW, ACCA) or a Management Accountant (e.g., CIMA), reflecting the senior accounting and financial governance needs of the role.
- Must have experience in credit evaluation and/or legal finance.
- Academic Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
- Preferred Investment Designation: CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) designation is highly preferred.
- 5+ years experience in financial analysis, investment analysis, or related fields.
- Proficiency in complex financial modelling and investment analysis.
- Excellent analytical, quantitative, and research skills, with attention to detail.
- Strong understanding of accounting and investment principles.
- Leadership experience, with a proven ability to mentor junior members.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to diverse audiences.
