The Role
They are looking for a reliable, organised, and proactive Accounts Assistant / Finance Assistant to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a busy office environment and is looking to develop their career within a supportive and growing finance function. The successful candidate will support the day-to-day running of the finance department across a broad range of accounting and administrative duties. They are open to considering both full-time and part-time applicants, depending on experience and suitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting with accounts payable and receivable processes, including processing invoices, payments, receipts, and expenses
- Preparing monthly accruals and prepayments
- Reconciling bank statements and VAT returns
- Assisting with payroll and processing timesheets
- Assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts and financial statements
- Posting journals and supporting ledger reviews
- Supporting credit control and supplier account management
- Analysing and posting credit card and petty cash expenses
- Assisting with the preparation of management information and performance reports
- Supporting budget tracking, cash flow reporting and business performance analysis
- Contributing to ad hoc finance projects, process improvements and automation initiatives
- Maintaining accurate financial records and filing systems
- Managing the department mailbox and responding to internal and external queries
- Collaborating with colleagues to ensure tasks are completed accurately and on time
- Providing general administrative support within the finance team
Requirements
Essential
- Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant, Finance Assistant, or similar finance role
- Good understanding of bookkeeping fundamentals, accounting principles and financial processes
- Excellent organisational skills
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Excel
- Ability to manage workload independently
- Strong communication skills
- Proactive attitude with the confidence to solve problems and improve processes
- Reliable, trustworthy, and professional
Desirable
- AAT qualified or currently studying
- Experience using Xero and Salesforce
- Experience producing management accounts
- VAT knowledge
- Experience assisting with payroll and processing timesheets
