Stairlift Installation Engineer (Entry Level Field-Based) South East & West Sussex (commutable to Eastbourne area) Package Β£28,000 basic salary Overtime available 1-in-4 on-call rota with additional earnings Company van, tools, and mobile phone provided Full training provided Role Overview This is an entry-level field engineering role within the mobility and assisted living sector. You will support the installation, servicing, and maintenance of stairlifts in domestic environments. No previous experience with Stairlifts is required, as full manufacturer and in-house training will be provided. The role is ideal for someone with a practical, hands-on background who is looking to develop a long-term career in electromechanical field service engineering. You will work in customers homes, helping to ensure mobility equipment is installed safely, operates reliably, and meets required safety standards, directly improving independence and quality of life for end users. Key Responsibilities Assist with installation and commissioning of stairlifts and hoist systems under guidance Carry out servicing and basic maintenance of mobility equipment Support diagnosis of electrical and mechanical faults (training provided) Respond to service calls and breakdowns alongside experienced engineers Maintain accurate service records and job documentation Ensure all work is carried out safely and in line with company procedures Deliver professional and respectful customer service in private homes Participate in a structured 1-in-4 on-call rota (once trained) Candidate Requirements Essential Strong practical or hands-on ability (engineering, mechanical, electrical, or similar background preferred) Interest in learning electrical and mechanical systems Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail Ability to work independently once trained Confident and professional communication skills Full UK driving licence (or working towards obtaining one) Willingness to work in customer-facing environments DBS check (or willingness to undergo one) Desirable (not essential) Basic understanding of electrical or mechanical principles Previous experience in engineering, construction, maintenance, or installation roles Any technical qualifications (college, apprenticeships, NVQ, etc.) Manual handling awareness or training Experience working in customer-facing roles Training & Development Full manufacturer training on stairlift and hoist systems Structured onboarding with experienced field engineers Ongoing technical development and progression opportunities Progression pathway into fully qualified Field Service Engineer role Benefits Stable entry into a specialist engineering sector Full training provided from day one Company van, tools, and equipment supplied Overtime and call-out earnings available after training period Long-term career progression opportunities Varied, hands-on work across domestic environments Work that has a direct positive impact on customers independence Ready to begin your career as a Stairlift Installation Engineer?
