Looking for flexibility without compromising on the quality of your work? Our client is a long-established and highly respected independent accountancy practice based in Twyford, near Winchester. With a loyal client base, strong local reputation, and supportive team culture, they are looking to recruit an experienced Practice Accountant to manage a portfolio of clients and play a key role within the business. This opportunity would suit an experienced accountant who enjoys building client relationships, taking ownership of their work, and working with a high degree of autonomy.

The Opportunity

  • You will manage your own portfolio of SME and personal tax clients, acting as their trusted advisor and primary point of contact.
  • Key responsibilities include:
    • Managing a portfolio of small business and personal tax clients
    • Preparing and reviewing limited company accounts
    • Preparing and submitting self-assessment tax returns
    • Preparing and submitting VAT returns
    • Managing Making Tax Digital (MTD) requirements
    • Liaising directly with HMRC on behalf of clients
    • Filing statutory accounts with Companies House and HMRC
    • Providing support and guidance on accounting software including Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, FreeAgent, and VT Transactions
    • Building long-term client relationships and delivering excellent client service
    • Working closely with the management team to support the continued growth of the practice

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have previous experience working within an accountancy practice environment and be confident managing client relationships independently. You will ideally have:

  • 5+ years' experience within a UK accountancy practice
  • Experience managing a client portfolio
  • Strong accounts preparation and tax experience
  • Knowledge of cloud-based accounting software
  • Excellent communication and client-facing skills
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • The ability to work independently and manage your own workload
