SHEQ Assistant | Preston, Lancashire | Full Time | £32,000 to £35,000 DOEOur client is a leading manufacturer of moulded plastic products, operating across the vehicle, fire and environmental safety markets.
They are a market leader in several European countries and export products to over 60 countries worldwide. The business operates from a manufacturing site and distribution site in Preston, Lancashire, employing around 155 people, with a subsidiary in France.
The RoleThey are looking for a SHEQ Assistant to support the SHEQ department with customer issues, quality activities and health, safety, environmental and compliance requirements.
The role is varied and will involve responding to the areas requiring the most attention across the business. The successful candidate will also be required to handle certain subjects involving personal data, so discretion and confidentiality are essential.
The role is based in Preston, Lancashire, and candidates must be within commuting distance.
Key ResponsibilitiesMaintain systems supporting ISO quality standardsAssist in managing policies and processesWork with internal teams to ensure procedures and documentation remain currentSupport customer complaints, root cause analysis and non-conformance reportingAssist with customer feedback activitiesAudit suppliers for documentation, licences, insurance and complianceAdminister compliance documents, policies and online systemsCoordinate with external partners on health and safety checks, fire assessments and risk assessmentsSupport first aid and fire warden dutiesRecord fire drills, emergency lighting checks and safety inspectionsManage accreditation documentationIdentify and flag potential risks to managementSupport the SHEQ Manager during audits and spot checksMaintain safety records, incident logs and waste compliance licencesSupport environmental accreditations and sustainability initiativesAssist internal teams with SHEQ queriesRaise purchase orders when authorisedFollow business policies and role-specific proceduresSupport ad-hoc projects as requiredRequirementsEssentialMinimum 5 GCSEs or equivalentIOSH, NEBOSH or other relevant SHEQ qualifications or experienceExperience in a similar roleExcellent communication skillsAbility to influenceAble to use Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OutlookGood organisational skillsTenacious approachExcellent attention to detailGood collaboration skillsDesirablePlastics manufacturing or other factory exposureFirst aid and/or fire warden certificationAuditing experienceManaging Accreditation experienceProject management experienceWhat's In It For YouSalary of £32,000 to £35,000 depending on knowledge and experienceMonday to Friday working hours, 8:00 am–5:00 pm Monday to Thursday and 8:00 am–4:30 pm Friday25 days' holiday plus bank holidaysChristmas shutdownOption to purchase additional annual leavePensionHealth Cash Plan schemeSick Pay SchemeFree parkingFree refreshmentsAdditional hours may be required to suit business demandsWhat's next?
