The Role
Established in 1996, our client is a specialist supplier of water quality monitoring instrumentation, electrochemical sensors, and associated products, operating primarily within the water industry. This is a senior leadership position focused on driving commercial growth and shaping the future direction of the business. As General Manager, you will take ownership of revenue growth, strengthen key client relationships, and develop new business opportunities across both product sales and service contracts. The business is consistently profitable with significant untapped potential across its existing customer base and wider market opportunities; this role has been created to unlock that growth.
Key responsibilities include:
- Taking ownership of commercial growth across existing and new markets
- Managing and developing long-term relationships with key clients, including major UK water utilities and industrial customers
- Identifying, pursuing, and converting new business opportunities
- Driving sales performance across instrumentation products and service contracts
- Working closely with the Office Manager to ensure smooth operational delivery and excellent customer service
- Developing and expanding underutilised areas of the business and product offering
- Contributing directly to strategic planning and long-term business development
- Providing leadership across sales activity and helping shape a proactive growth culture
Requirements
Essential
- Proven experience in sales, commercial management, or general management within a technical, engineering, or industrial sector
- Strong ability to grow and manage key client relationships
- Commercially astute with a clear focus on business development and revenue growth
- Full UK driving licence
- Must live within 20 miles of Shefford
Desirable
- Experience within the water industry, instrumentation, or environmental services
- Background in service contracts or technical product sales
- Experience managing or growing small to medium-sized businesses
