Our client is a leading forge master in the oil & gas industry and has recently gained accreditations for the Nuclear and Aerospace sectors. With over 40 years of experience in forging, they specialise in creating bespoke products using open die methods. They currently have an opportunity for a Senior NDT Technician. The successful candidate will be a qualified and experienced NDT Technician, ideally with previous supervisory experience or seeking their first step into a leadership role. You will be an integral part of a team of Technicians carrying out ultrasonic testing of bars and forgings in line with national, international, and customer specifications and procedures.
Other duties include:
- Provide training, coaching, support and guidance to the NDT team
- Monitor the progress of work, proactively identifying potential issues and communicating these as appropriate
- Track equipment calibration and expiry dates
- Perform inspections monitored by third-party and customer witness personnel
- Liaise with auditors as required
- Assist in the development and improvement of the NDT department
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications, skills and experience:
- PCN level 2 Ultrasonic (Forgings) is essential
- PCN level 2 MPI and LPI – Desirable
- Previous Supervisory experience is desirable
- Forklift Truck Driving licence - or willing to train
- Pendant Crane Driving ability - or willing to train
- Understanding of Metals/Materials as used within the forging industry
- Practical understanding of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Effective problem-solving and time management skills
- Eye for detail, quality and integrity focused
- Practical knowledge of Health and Safety legislation
- Team player, but also able to work on their own initiative
