Our client is a well-established, family-oriented law firm serving Newtownards and the wider Northern Ireland community for over 80 years. They provide a full range of legal services to both private and business clients, combining traditional values with modern, client-focused practice.
They are proud of their approachable team and are looking for an experienced Probate Paralegal to join them in the newly renovated High Street offices.
What will your role look like?
Working closely with fee-earners in the Wills and Probate team, you will provide high-quality paralegal and administrative support, ensuring matters are progressed efficiently, and clients receive a professional and compassionate service.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing comprehensive paralegal and administrative support to fee-earners
- Drafting and preparing correspondence and legal documents, including Wills, Deeds, Court papers, Powers of Attorney, OCP and tax forms, under supervision
- Audio typing from digital dictation, ensuring accuracy and adherence to in-house style
- Managing diaries, appointments and meetings, with daily checks against fee-earners' schedules
- Dealing with clients in person and by telephone in a professional and empathetic manner
- Handling confidential client information securely at all times
- File and case management, including billing, file closure and archiving
- Managing filing systems, scanning, photocopying and document retrieval
- Accurately taking messages and passing them on promptly
- Assisting with the efficient processing of new business opportunities
- Supporting other areas of the practice as required
- Acting as a mentor to junior staff members and assisting with training where needed

Our client is looking for an organised, compassionate and team-focused individual who takes pride in delivering excellent client care. You will ideally demonstrate the following:
- Previous experience within Probate (essential), Wills, Elder Law or Private Client work (advantageous but not essential)
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage a busy workload
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A professional, empathetic approach when dealing with clients, particularly in sensitive situations
- A team-driven attitude, with the ability to work collaboratively and support colleagues
- Flexibility and a willingness to assist across the wider practice when required
- High levels of attention to detail and accuracy
- Confidence in handling confidential and sensitive information appropriately
- Experience using a case management system (advantageous)
- Experience with HMRC online services (advantageous)
- High competency in Excel spreadsheets (advantageous)
- Understanding of conveyancing and wider legal matter would be advantageous, but is not essential
- A mathematical or accountancy background would be advantageous, but is not essential
- Willingness to act as a mentor to junior staff and assist with training where required
