Our client is a small, independent group of Opticians, established in 1997, looking for a passionate and driven Optometrist to join their team at their Wallington branch. As the company's practices are close to each other, the successful candidate may be required to cover sickness or holiday at other locations in Coulsdon or Banstead.

The ideal candidate will be keen to further their career, engage in shared schemes, and pursue additional qualifications. You will need to be clinically strong, as well as familiar with meeting targets and key performance indicators (KPIs).

What will your role look like?

  • Conduct thorough eye tests to assess vision, detect eye diseases, and evaluate the overall health of the eyes
  • Prescribe corrective lenses (glasses or contact lenses) based on the patient's needs, considering factors like age, lifestyle, and occupation
  • Diagnose eye conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy through tests and assessments
  • Educate patients about eye health, proper care for contact lenses, the importance of regular eye checkups, and any diagnosed conditions
  • Monitor and manage ongoing eye conditions to ensure the appropriate treatment and follow-up care
  • Refer patients to ophthalmologists or other healthcare professionals when more advanced medical treatment or surgery is required
  • Assess suitability for contact lenses, provide fitting services, and give instructions on the proper care and maintenance of lenses
  • Promote additional services, including dry eye clinics, visual screening for dyslexia, and myopia management
