Our client is seeking a Residential Therapeutic Parent to join their children's home in Newcastle. You'll support children aged 11–18 who may have experienced trauma or emotional/behavioural difficulties, helping them gain stability, confidence, and independence. Life experience and transferable skills are encouraged — no prior residential care experience is required.

Skills & Experience:

  • Essential
  • Understanding of child development and therapeutic parenting
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting welfare
  • Team player with empathy and ability to manage challenging behaviours
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts (day, evening, night)
  • Full UK driving licence and Right to Work in the UK
  • Desirable
    • Level 3 Diploma in Children & Young People's Workforce (or equivalent)
    • 2 years' experience working in children's residential care
    • Willingness to work towards Level 3 qualification if not already qualified (funding and incentives available)

    The role:

    • Support the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager in the day-to-day running of the home
    • Provide a safe, nurturing and structured environment for children and young people
    • Build positive relationships and act as a therapeutic parent and role model
    • Support young people in developing life skills, confidence and independence
    • Encourage young people to express their views and participate in decisions about their lives
    • Support participation in education, hobbies, activities and community opportunities
    • Transport young people to education, appointments and family contact
    • Maintain accurate records, reports and care documentation
    • Work as part of a team to maintain high standards of care in line with safeguarding and Ofsted expectations
