Location: Remote / Work from Home
Hours: Full Time, 37.5 hours per week
The role is primarily working from home. Candidates based in Aberdeen or elsewhere in Scotland are particularly desirable, although the company is open to candidates based anywhere for the right person. The successful candidate would have the opportunity to meet with the team approximately once a week, with additional face-to-face meetings where required for collaboration and brainstorming.
Responsibilities:
- Undertaking all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecasts preparation, as well as development of internal control policies and procedures.
- Financial risk management.
- Motivating the finance team, producing quality materials within tight time frames, and managing several projects.
- Provision of monthly management accounts and monthly reporting across the company’s portfolio.
- Overseeing the bookkeeping function, monitoring costs, producing cash-flow reports, VAT and ad-hoc projects to improve processes.
- Ensuring timely monthly financial statements and MI to senior management.
- Coordinating and directing the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and reporting variances.
- Researching technical accounting issues for compliance.
- Supporting month-end and year-end close process.
- Ensuring quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
- Developing and documenting business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
- Preparation of management board packs, including presenting financial information in clear PowerPoint presentations, graphs and other visual formats.
Special Requirements:
- Proven working experience within a financial setting.
- 2+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience.
- Degree in Accounting/Qualified by experience preferred or working towards financial qualifications in an accountancy role.
- CA or CIMA preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
- Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
- Experience with Xero is an advantage.
- Advanced Excel skills.
