They are a small team with strong local knowledge and specialise in supporting small businesses with their finance needs from start-up through to year-end accounts and corporation tax. They provide support across bookkeeping, payroll, self-assessment, VAT, and end-of-year accounts, offering a personal service and aiming to deliver clear, practical, no-jargon advice to clients.
The Role
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious individual looking to further develop their accounting career within a professional practice environment while gaining exposure to a varied client portfolio. You will work closely with senior accountants and managers, supporting the delivery of high-quality financial reporting, compliance work, and client service.
Key responsibilities:
- Prepare statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies
- Assist with management accounts preparation and monthly reporting
- Complete VAT returns and ensure compliance with HMRC regulations
- Support clients with bookkeeping and general accounting queries
- Prepare and submit corporation tax computations and returns
- Liaise with clients to gather required financial information
- Work closely with senior team members on complex assignments
- Ensure all work is completed accurately and within deadlines
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of accounting standards and legislation
What We're Looking For
- AAT qualified or part-qualified ACCA / ACA (or equivalent)
- Experience preparing accounts and VAT returns
- Confident using accounting software (e.g. Xero, QuickBooks, Sage)
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- Good communication skills with a client-focused approach
- Able to manage workload and meet deadlines effectively
