Our client is a global supplier to the Composite & Coating Industry with 19 manufacturing sites and 5 technology centres in 12 countries. The company is one of the world's largest suppliers of unsaturated polyester resins for composites and a leading supplier of coating resins for a wide variety of markets and applications.

The Role

They are seeking an Electrical and Electronic Engineer to manage the maintenance of the plant and buildings at the Mitcham facility. Administer and maintain this system and the records, keeping all Plant equipment in a safe and operable condition with minimum downtime, making best use of human resources to achieve aims and minimising the use of contractors and consultants. This role will be responsible for managing the maintenance and capital budgets.

Responsibilities

  • Execute capital plan as best defined by completing assigned projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Responsible for the capital budget management, as well as for the capital planning, CEAR submission and all project-related activities.
  • Responsible for cash flow forecasting of all project spending and closing projects upon receipt of the last invoice associated with each project.
  • Ensure that all abatement equipment is maintained to ensure regulatory compliance and allow planned operation with no environmental violations.
  • Ensure that all maintenance standards, procedures and records are in compliance with the Regulating Authority and internal requirements, e.g. LEV, Lifting Equipment, Pressure inspection, boiler inspections, asbestos register, mechanical integrity, etc.
  • Carry out Process investigations, in conjunction with the operations team, to ascertain that the equipment and processes are operated as efficiently as possible.
  • Ensure that all Engineering activities are carried out according to procedure and that all EHS practices are strictly adhered to (by own staff and Contractors) with the target of achieving a zero accident rate in the maintenance department.
  • Purchase (and control the purchasing by other members of the team) all maintenance services and materials within the constraints of the maintenance budget.
  • Control inventory of spares and consumables.
  • Carry out project design for plant modifications or major maintenance operations (or manage the design if done by external contractors).
  • Facilitate and participate in PHA studies, estimate, prepare authorisation and justification documentation.
  • Procure and project manage all works up to and including mechanical and, in co-operation with plant chemists and other operations management, commission such modifications when authorised.
  • Manage the operation of the utilities at the Mitcham Facility, including the management of the efficient and safe use of energy.
  • Utilities include steam boilers, thermal oil heaters, air compressors, nitrogen systems, cooling towers, chillers, process water systems, incinerators, catalytic oxidisers and associated office and laboratory facilities.
  • Act as the PI administrator on site.
  • Keep updated and well-organised the plant documentation, such as P&IDs, Electrical loops drawings, Equipment files.

What We're Looking For

  • Degree level or equivalent in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, or at least 5 years' experience in chemical, manufacturing or a related engineering discipline.
  • Experience working in a chemical manufacturing environment.
  • High level of competence in mechanical maintenance.
  • Knowledge of integrated systems (Instrumentation / PLC/ HMI (general)).
  • Experience in managing and controlling a maintenance budget.
  • Clear understanding of risk management and respect for the hazards associated with a chemical plant.
  • Able to clearly communicate with other colleagues (intervention status, report) / interaction with other services.
  • Self-motivated, quality and safety conscious individual.
  • Ability to manage a maintenance team and outside contractors.
