Applications Engineer | Uxbridge, London | Full Time | £30,000–£40,000 per annum, depending on experience and proven track record Are you a technically minded engineer with a passion for developing customer solutions and driving business growth? Our client is a valve and instrumentation supply company, offering a wide range of products for both standard and specialist industrial applications. They supply to all market sectors including oil/gas, chemical, pharmaceutical, medical, food, motor racing, semiconductor and power generation. The Role The Applications Engineer will be responsible for preparing technical proposals, taking company products through new product design and reviews, testing and audit requirements, developing sales strategies for UK and international sales, providing technical support where needed, and undertaking customer visits across the UK. The role combines technical applications engineering with business development, helping to identify customer needs, present solutions and secure new business. Reporting to the Managing Director, you will play a key role in driving business growth through new product development and customer relationship management across UK and international markets. You will analyse customer data, develop marketing and sales strategies, and apply your knowledge of flow instrumentation, valves and fluid-related products to deliver effective engineering solutions. Key Responsibilities Prepare technical proposals Take products through new product design, reviews, testing and audit requirements Promote the company with customers in person and online across the UK Manage the certification process for the new valve range Work to promote the company as a technical product supplier and significantly increase enquiries during the first year Introduce the company's represented and manufactured product range to customers Apply knowledge of flow equipment to develop appropriate solutions Identify opportunities for bespoke designs to meet customer requirements Generate quotations and proposals to support the quotations department Maintain contact with customers after proposals have been submitted to maximise contract success Analyse market data and develop sales strategies for the UK and international markets Develop marketing campaigns Act as an influential member of the team by proposing improvements to customer approaches and internal systems Provide input into pricing decisions, technical information and customer characteristics for sales strategies Provide technical support to customers where required Requirements Essential Technical sales or sales engineering experience, preferably with pressure, temperature, level instrumentation and valves Formal engineering qualification in Electrical, Mechanical or Production Engineering Strong technical knowledge of valve and instrument standards Knowledge of industrial applications and market sectors Ability to understand and explain technical concepts Strong communication and interpersonal skills Self-motivated and goal-oriented Ability to work within a close-knit team Proven ability to achieve measurable sales results Experience providing technical support Margin-conscious sales approach Dependable and customer-focused Strong team player willing to share information with colleagues Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint Full UK driving licence Suitable combination of technical qualifications, sales training and industry experience Desirable Native English speaker Experience selling into a variety of markets and industries Understanding of CRM systems such as Salesforce, Maximizer, Encore or SAP (the company uses Opera III) Applications engineering background Good understanding of fluid-related products (mechanical and electronic) What's In It For You Salary depending on experience and track record Bonus scheme Private health support subscription (quick access to GP etc.) Standard holidays Company pension What's next?
