Our client is a leading international publisher of large print and unabridged audiobooks. The company offers a wide variety of large print titles and unabridged audiobooks.
They are seeking a Typesetter / Artworker to join their Studio team, producing pages for large print books and artwork for audio inlays. The role involves working with Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office to prepare content and artwork ready for printing and online platforms.
The Role
As a Typesetter / Artworker, you will be responsible for typesetting large print book pages, preparing artwork and completing proof corrections in line with in-house style guidelines. You will work closely with the Publishing team and manage your own schedule, emails and deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
Typeset large print book pages
Add title details received from Publishing onto FileMaker
Complete details on the Excel Typesetting Schedule
Save specifications, synopses, author information and copyright information and match these with new titles
Set new titles in InDesign using in-house style guidelines
Prepare first PDF proofs for Friday mornings
Book in corrections received from Publishing
Complete first proof corrections received from Publishing
Finalise second proof corrections received from Publishing
Artwork audio inlays
Adapt existing artwork to alternative layouts and formats including LP, MP3 and CD
Ensure artwork is consistent, accurate and follows brand and house guidelines
Export InDesign documents to PDF
Correct and format documents before they are sent to printers
Convert PDFs into JPGs for use on online platforms
Adapt quickly to frequently changing schedules and deadlines
Monitor and answer own emails
Attend meetings as required
What We're Looking For
Demonstrable typesetting experience
Experience using Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Acrobat
Experience using Microsoft Word and Excel
Experience using FileMaker
High standard of spoken and written English
Good computer literacy
Strong attention to detail
Diligent approach to work
Ability to work to changing schedules and deadlines
