Our client was founded in 1996 and is a UKAS & ISO9001 accredited calibration company offering calibration, servicing and call outs nationwide, including Southern Ireland, across a wide range of instrumentation and electromechanical devices. The company works with a varied customer base across many different industries.
This is an excellent opportunity for an electrically qualified or experienced engineer with strong fault-finding skills who is looking to broaden their knowledge and develop their instrumentation and calibration experience. The role involves on-site calibration contracts, troubleshooting and call outs at customer premises, alongside workshop and office-based duties at the Witton facility. The successful candidate will generally work alone, with a partner when required, and will have daily contact with customers. A structured training programme will be provided to develop instrumentation and calibration knowledge.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out on-site calibration contracts, troubleshooting and call outs at customer premises
- Build electrical control panels
- Carry out workshop repairs
- Test temperature sensors
- Complete reports and calibration certificates
- Explain technical findings and recommendations directly to customers
- Assist with office administration duties when required at the Witton facility
- Carry out occasional delivery duties
- Work independently and use own initiative
- Work as part of a team depending on site and job requirements
- Work to weekly programmes, with some emergency call outs provided with one day's notice
- Travel UK-wide, with some work in Ireland
- Attend regular customer sites where required
RequirementsEssential
- Good sound working knowledge of electrical circuits
- Strong electrical fault-finding and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to converse confidently with customers face to face
- Excellent working knowledge of computer software, including Microsoft Word and Excel
- Full UK driving licence
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- A professional and respectful approach to customers and colleagues
Desirable
- Previous instrumentation or calibration experience
- Knowledge of Eurotherm controllers
- Experience with temperature measurement or sensor testing
- Knowledge of UKAS or ISO9001 standards
- Experience with industrial control systems
- Background in industrial electrical, controls, automation, instrumentation or maintenance
Whats In It For You
- Salary of £25,000 - £30,000 per annum, subject to experience
- Monday to Thursday, 8.30am to 5.30pm, if a 1-hour lunch is taken
- Friday, 8.30am to 4.30pm
- Occasional overtime as required
- Overtime paid at 1.5 x standard rate midweek and Saturday
- Overtime paid at 2 x standard rate on Sundays and Bank Holidays
- No 24-hour call-out customer arrangements currently offered
