HR Co-ordinator | Oldham, Greater Manchester | Full Time | £30,000 - £34,000 per annum Our client is an established specialist provider in the construction and engineering sector, operating from Oldham and serving a diverse range of project needs within the industry. They are part of a group of niche companies focused on delivering technical services such as working at height solutions, height safety compliance and maintenance. The Role You will be an organised and approachable HR Co-ordinator providing HR support across the group. The role involves coordinating recruitment, training and day-to-day HR activities, maintaining accurate records and supporting employees and managers with HR queries. You will also ensure agreed actions are followed through, and company policies are applied consistently. Key Responsibilities Manage the full recruitment process, from agreeing role requirements and advertising vacancies to reviewing CVs and conducting initial interviews Prepare job offers, contracts and pre-employment checks, including references, right to work and role-specific checks Deliver inductions, communicate policy and procedure updates, and manage probation reviews Coordinate employee changes, leavers and exit interviews Maintain training records, arrange courses and ensure qualifications are renewed before expiry Liaise with training providers, arrange joining instructions, travel and accommodation, and apply for training grants. Support managers with development plans, appraisals and apprenticeships Maintain a confidential register of HR matters and follow up agreed actions Act as the first point of contact for HR queries from employees and line managers Coordinate performance, capability, disciplinary and grievance processes in line with company policies Arrange welfare and return-to-work meetings and support managers with sensitive conversations Coordinate occupational health assessments, fitness-for-work checks and drug and alcohol testing, maintaining confidential records Manage holiday allocations and requests, highlighting scheduling conflicts and cover gaps to managers before leave is confirmed Update employees on their remaining holiday entitlement each quarter Record sickness and other absences, coordinating contact and return-to-work arrangements during longer absences Monitor working hours and days off to ensure compliance with company requirements Maintain accurate personnel files and HR systems, handling employee data securely and in line with GDPR Keep the Company Handbook and HR policies up to date and record employee acknowledgements Liaise with solicitors and external HR advisers as required Requirements Essential Experience in HR administration or a relevant people-support role Strong organisational skills and accurate record-keeping Clear written and verbal communication skills Confidence using Microsoft Office and maintaining confidential records Ability to follow policies, manage deadlines and recognise when specialist advice is needed An approachable, discreet and fair manner, with sound judgement when handling sensitive matters Ability to work independently, build relationships with employees and managers, and follow up actions constructively Desirable Experience coordinating recruitment, training or employee relations A relevant HR qualification, such as CIPD Level 3, or equivalent practical experience Familiarity with construction or another safety-critical environment Experience with apprenticeships or training funding What's In It For You Salary of £30,000 - £34,000 per annum, depending on experience 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday Normal working hours of 8:00 am – 4:00 pm, with a one-hour unpaid lunch break Office-based role in Oldham, Greater Manchester Induction covering the Company Handbook, HR policies, systems and data protection procedures Further development in recruitment, absence management, employee relations and handling sensitive conversations Access to specialist HR advice when required Potential future development opportunities, including Mental Health First Aider training, employee assistance initiatives and recruitment programmes supporting apprenticeship recruitment and retention What's next?
