Our client is a specialist manufacturing business operating within the electrical components and cable assembly sector, producing high-quality bespoke cable solutions for a wide range of customers across multiple industries. The business operates from a modern production facility in Brackmills and focuses on precision assembly, quality control, and continuous improvement within a clean and structured manufacturing environment.

Following continued demand for their products, our client is now looking to appoint permanent Electrical Cable Assemblers to join their production team. This is a hands-on, detail-focused role within a small, collaborative team environment where accuracy, efficiency, and quality are essential.

The Opportunity

These are practical, workshop-based assembly roles focused on building electrical cables and related components to customer specifications. You will be working as part of a production team assembling cables, harnesses, and associated components using both manual and automated methods. This is a varied role where no two days are the same, with responsibility spanning assembly, inspection, testing, and supporting wider production and stock control processes. Comprehensive training will be provided across all key areas of the department, making this an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to further develop their skills within electrical manufacturing. The role reports into the Team Leader and Department Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble cables to plugs and sockets using soldering irons and hand crimping methods
  • Operate automated crimping equipment where required
  • Assemble cable harnesses into e-chains
  • Fit additional components such as brackets, troughs, and related parts
  • Read and interpret picking lists, wiring diagrams, pinouts, and assembly instructions
  • Accurately pick parts and materials for production orders
  • Label finished cables for identification and traceability
  • Carry out electrical cable inspection and testing
  • Comply with quality control (QC) standards and procedures
  • Ensure correct stock handling and accurate location of materials within the stock system
  • Support general production efficiency and housekeeping standards
  • Work across multiple areas of the department, including testing, machine operation, crimping, and soldering

About You

  • Previous experience in cable assembly, wire harnessing, or a similar electrical manufacturing environment
  • Experience in soldering and crimping (IPC certification highly desirable but not essential)
  • Strong attention to detail and high levels of manual dexterity
  • Ability to follow technical drawings and written instructions accurately
  • Reliable, hardworking, and comfortable working in a production environment
  • Strong team player with a flexible and proactive attitude
  • Able to work efficiently in a small team with varied workload demands
  • Keen to learn new skills and undertake ongoing training and development

What's on Offer

  • £13.00-£13.50 per hour depending on experience
  • Full-time hours: 08:00-17:00 (40 hours per week)
  • Flexible working hours available, including flexi-time options (e.g. 07:45-16:45)
  • Overtime paid at time and a half, and overtime opportunities and occasional early-start shifts available
  • 30 days holiday per annum including Bank Holidays, plus a mandatory 3.5-day shutdown over Christmas (holiday year runs January to January)
