Our client is a firm of Chartered Accountants and Registered Auditors with offices in Gillingham and Sturminster Newton, Dorset. They are an independent, forward-thinking firm that continues to build on its traditional roots and strong reputation. They are seeking a Tax Assistant to join their largest office in Gillingham, supporting an experienced Tax Director and two Tax Managers in delivering an exceptional service to a varied client base.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with UK personal tax experience who is looking to further develop their career in a collaborative environment. The Role

As a Tax Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the tax team by preparing and completing a range of tax compliance work. You'll also build relationships with clients and act as a point of contact, while liaising with HMRC when required.

Key responsibilities:

  • Preparing personal, sole trader, partnership Self-Assessment and Capital Gains Tax (CGT) returns
  • Assisting the Tax Director and Tax Managers with personal tax compliance work
  • Acting as a first point of contact for clients, responding to queries professionally
  • Liaising with HMRC on behalf of clients where required
  • Ensuring deadlines are met and records are maintained accurately
  • Supporting the wider tax team with a range of compliance-related duties

What We're Looking For

  • Must have at least 1 years experience working within UK personal tax compliance
  • ATT qualification (full or part-qualified), or relevant practical tax experience
  • AAT-qualified or part-qualified candidates with tax experience are also encouraged to apply
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • A proactive attitude with strong attention to detail
  • The ability to manage workloads and meet deadlines
