Refrigeration Installation Engineer Location: Remote (Candidate based in Southwest England)

Working Hours: 7:00 am5:00 pm, 4 days per week

Our client provides premium building service solutions to food manufacturers and distributors in the South-West.

The business also operates a renewable division that provides low-carbon heating and cooling solutions to commercial and domestic customers.

They are seeking a skilled Refrigeration Installation Engineer to join a growing Exeter-based engineering business.

This is a site-based role working on a variety of projects, often within the food manufacturing sector, delivering hands-on refrigeration installations in project teams or individually as needed.

The Role

As an Installation Engineer, you will work across refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, fabric, groundwork, and general fitting tasks.

You will be part of a project team focused on delivering high-quality workmanship, working alongside subcontractors and liaising with site leads and clients.

Joining the on-call team to support breakdowns out of hours.

Key Responsibilities

  • Installing refrigeration equipment including freezers, fridges and cooling systems
  • Installing pumps, pipework, heating and ventilation systems
  • Carrying out plumbing, fabric, groundwork and general fitting tasks as required
  • Following site Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS)
  • Reading and interpreting technical drawings and P&IDs
  • Communicating with clients when required
  • Reporting progress to site leads and line managers
  • Identifying and resolving technical issues on-site
  • Working alongside subcontractors and other members of the project team
  • Assisting with technical documentation for servicing and project sign-off
  • Participating in the 1-in-7 on-call rota
  • Supporting emergency breakdowns during weekday evenings and weekends
  • Travelling to sites regionally and nationally as required

Requirements

Essential

  • F-Gas certification
  • Proven experience in refrigeration
  • CSCS Card required for site access
  • Full UK clean driving licence
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and P&IDs
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to work on-site and travel regionally or nationally

Desirable

  • IPAF certification and Working at Heights experience
  • Awareness of CDM Regulations
  • Experience using app-based job management systems
  • First Responder or First Aid at Work certification

  • £42,000£46,000 per annum DOE, with some flexibility for particularly strong candidates
  • Weekend overtime paid at double time
  • Weekday overtime paid at time and a half
  • All hours worked over 40 hours per week paid at overtime rates

  • 1-in-7 on-call rota
  • £150 additional payment for each week on call
  • £50 payment for each call-out, plus overtime for hours worked on the job
  • Accommodation booked and paid for directly by the company when working away
  • £30 per night subsistence allowance when working away
  • 15% pay uplift on standard hours when working away
  • Travel paid to and from the company's Exeter office
  • Nest pension with matched employer contributions of up to 5% after the 3-month probationary period
  • 6 weeks' holiday, plus your birthday off
  • Additional annual leave after 5 years' service, increasing by 1 day per year up to a maximum of 5 additional days
