Our client is recruiting for an experienced Electrical Estimator to join their well-respected and established team based in Shrivenham, close to Swindon. They are now recognised as the leading contractor in the area with an excellent order book and client base. Consistently achieving growth of 20-30% year on year, they are a forward-thinking business with extensive growth plans. They typically operate within a 100-mile radius of their office. Work covers multiple disciplines, including pharmaceutical, manufacturing, high-end residential, and commercial sites. These vary from £10,000 to circa £500,000.

The Electrical Estimator will be responsible for pricing and managing tenders across a range of project types. You will be expected to work independently from day one. Projects are typically high-end residential, commercial, and high-end retirement villages/care homes, with values generally between £100,000 and £500,000. Most work is office-based with occasional travel for client meetings and site surveys. Projects are generally within 1-1.5 hours of the office, and very rarely London. Please note: only candidates living within approximately a 40-minute commute of the office in Shrivenham will be considered.

Key responsibilities:

  • Receiving enquiries from clients
  • Completing an in-depth review of the enquiry, extending to contractual, health and safety, logistical and technical aspects of the opportunity
  • Attending site meetings/surveys as required
  • Sending/receiving enquiries to/from suppliers & specialist sub-contractors
  • Preparing take-offs from drawings
  • Preparation of tender price
  • Presentation of the tender to the Director for approval prior to submittal
  • Detailed tender submission
  • Post-tender review meetings with clients
  • Detailed tender handover report to Project Delivery Team
  • Assisting in the development of colleagues such as Administrators or Junior Estimators
  • Ownership of our established estimating package
  • Attending client meetings and site surveys
  • Confidence discussing commercial aspects of tenders (bonus, Operations Director supports negotiations)

What We're Looking For:

  • 5+ years of Electrical Estimating experience
  • Can work independently from day one
  • Experience pricing high-end projects, particularly:
    • High-end residential
    • Commercial
    • High-end retirement villages/care homes
  • Project values typically £100k-£500k
  • Understanding of JCT and NEC contracts
  • Can attend client meetings and site surveys
  • Commercially aware and able to discuss tender aspects
  • Must have worked as an electrician previously (from a tools background)
  • IT proficient with modern systems
  • Organised, able to prioritise workload
  • Ability to work to targets
  • Adaptive and resilient
