Our client is a UK-based engineering firm specialising in refrigeration, mechanical services, and HVAC solutions, primarily serving the food production and distribution sector. They are seeking an experienced Refrigeration Engineer to support the service, maintenance, and installation of commercial and industrial refrigeration systems. This is a field-based role, working with a variety of refrigeration technologies in customer environments.
The role covers service and maintenance, installation and upgrade work where required. Depending on the project scope, the engineer may also take responsibility for supporting and overseeing Engineering Assistants on-site, as well as sharing knowledge and best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance and servicing of Refrigeration Systems and HVAC
- Diagnose and repair faults on Refrigeration Systems and HVAC
- Install new components, Refrigeration Systems and HVAC
- Conduct performance tests and ensure systems are operating efficiently
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and parts used
- Adhere to health and safety regulations and company policies
- Travel to various locations to attend service calls
- Participate in ongoing training and development programs
- Support, Mentor and Lead Engineering Assistants on site where allocated
Qualifications:
- F-Gas certification (Essential)
- Safe Handling of refrigerants, including CO2, Ammonia and Hydrocarbons preferred
- Proven experience working as a Refrigeration Engineer in a commercial or industrial environment
- Strong fault-finding, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with wider engineering teams
- Strong communication skills with a customer-focused approach
Key Competencies:
- Refrigeration and electrical fault finding
- Confident use of diagnostic tools, gauges, and control systems
- Ability to analyse data and provide practical solutions to system faults
- Completion of repairs in line with BS EN 378 standards
- Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules and priorities
- Professional communication with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders
Working Conditions:
- Nationwide travel required; full UK driving licence essential
- Occasional overnight stays
- Comfortable with using stairs, working at height and in confined or restricted spaces where required
- Exposure to cold environments due to the nature of refrigeration systems
