Our client is a family-run workshop specialising in campervan conversions and vehicle repairs. Based in Plymouth, they are known for producing well-built, reliable campervans with a strong focus on craftsmanship, practicality, and attention to detail. As an AWS Approved Workshop and members of the RMI and National Caravan Council (NCC), they operate to high professional and safety standards. They are now looking to welcome a motivated Camper Van Converter / Technician into their workshop team. This is a great opportunity for someone with strong hands-on skills who is looking to develop further within a supportive, multi-skilled environment.

The Role

This is a varied, practical workshop role where you will contribute to the build of bespoke campervans from start to finish. You will work as part of a small, experienced team where no two projects are the same. You do not need to be an expert in every area - what matters most is strong practical ability, a willingness to learn, and pride in your workmanship.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with full campervan conversions from shell to completion
  • Carpentry and interior fitting, including custom furniture builds
  • Installation of fixtures, fittings, and interior components
  • Supporting 12V and 240V electrical installations (training available where needed)
  • Supporting plumbing and water system installations
  • Insulation and interior preparation work
  • Fitting accessories and finishing details
  • Reading and following basic technical drawings and building plans
  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised workshop
  • Working collaboratively as part of a skilled team

What We're Looking For

We are open to candidates from a range of backgrounds, particularly those with strong hands-on workshop or trade experience.

  • Experience in carpentry, joinery, vehicle conversions, or a similar hands-on trade
  • Good practical skills with tools and workshop equipment
  • Ability to follow instructions and work from drawings or guidance
  • A willingness to learn new skills across electrics, plumbing, and conversion work
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in your work
  • Reliable, positive attitude with good timekeeping
  • Ability to work well as part of a small team
  • Awareness of health & safety in a workshop environment

You do not need to be experienced in all areas listed - training and development can be provided for the right person.

  • Previous campervan or motorhome conversion experience
  • Upholstery or soft furnishing skills

  • CNC machine experience
  • Gas Safe certification or experience working with gas systems
