Business Development Manager | Llanrwst, North Wales | Full Time | £60,000–£70,000 DOE Our client is a well-established, family-run group based in Llanrwst, North Wales, with over 50 years of experience.

The Group operates across two core businesses: Bus & Coach operations and Vehicle Sales, including a new vehicle dealership franchise launching in the coming months.

The Role Reporting to the Directors, you'll take ownership of commercial growth and day-to-day performance across both businesses in the Group, leading four direct reports and around sixty indirect reports.

This is a broad role that combines business development with operational leadership and requires someone who can confidently manage client negotiations, margin reviews and operational priorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identifying, pursuing and winning new commercial opportunities and contracts across both the Bus & Coach and Vehicle Sales businesses
  • Working with the Finance Manager to build the annual financial forecast and a 3–5 year business plan for the Group
  • Reviewing major service contracts to protect margins against fuel, wage and cost increases
  • Monitoring P&L monthly and producing clear, KPI-led reports for the Directors
  • Renegotiating support contracts to secure the best terms in the market
  • Leading, motivating and developing a management and supervisory team
  • Communicating company strategy and values clearly and consistently
  • Setting clear objectives for direct reports, monitoring delivery and holding managers accountable for performance
  • Balancing competing operational demands across engineering, compliance, vehicle sales, customer service and driver allocation
  • Ensuring effective coordination between Fleet, Sales, Projects, Aftersales and Engineering
  • Building strong working relationships across the business, with customers and with external partners
  • Chairing meetings, delivering appraisals and mentoring managers through change
  • Leading compliance across Drivers' Hours, Working Time Directive, DVSA/Traffic Commissioner rules and bus service standards
  • Providing management oversight of engineering performance and compliance across fleet, sales and customer vehicles
  • Working with the engineering team to ensure appropriate standards, controls and reporting are maintained
  • Championing a strong customer service culture and resolving escalating issues quickly and well Requirements Essential
  • Proven leadership experience gained across a multi-site or multi-business operation, ideally with P&L or budget responsibility
  • A track record of building strong, capable teams, spotting development needs and empowering individuals to reach their full potential
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen, with the ability to analyse viability, build forecasts and protect margin
  • Superb communication skills, with the credibility to influence Directors, motivate teams and win over customers
  • A sharp eye for priorities and the ability to balance strategic and urgent operational demands
  • A strategic mindset with the drive to implement lean, efficient processes and see change through
  • Confident with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Strong report-writing and numeracy skills Desirable
