An established plant hire company with over 50 years of industry experience, providing high-quality plant and digger hire across the UK, is seeking an experienced HGV Technician / Mechanic to maintain and repair their HGV fleet. They take pride in delivering reliable, well-maintained equipment and exceptional service to their customers, prioritising safety and operational excellence. This role is central to maintaining fleet reliability and supporting operational efficiency across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Carrying out servicing, maintenance and repairs (mechanical and electrical)
- Diagnosing faults and completing effective repairs
- Conducting 6-weekly inspections
- Brake testing
- MOT preparation
- Ensuring vehicles are safe, compliant and roadworthy
- Maintaining accurate service records and completing all relevant PMI paperwork
- Working efficiently to minimise downtime across the fleet
About You
- Essential
- Proven experience as an HGV Technician / Mechanic
- Strong mechanical knowledge, including servicing, maintenance and fault finding on HGVs
- Own tools required
- Reliable, self-motivated and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Desirable
- Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent)
- Class 2 (Category C) driving licence
