Talent Finance are proud to be partnering with a long established and highly regarded organisation based near Poole and Bournemouth, who are looking to appoint a qualified Financial Controller to join their senior leadership team. This is a broad and hands on Financial Controller position suited to someone who enjoys being close to the detail while also contributing to strategic and commercial decision making. The role will take full responsibility for the finance function and play a key part in supporting the continued growth and development of the business. The business operates across multiple international locations and is recognised as a specialist within its sector, working with a range of high‑profile clients and long‑term contracts.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the Financial Controller will be responsible for the day‑to‑day financial management of the business, ensuring accurate reporting, strong financial controls and providing meaningful financial insight to support business decisions. The role will also have oversight of payroll and HR related financial processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Take ownership of the month end and year end close process and produce accurate management accounts and financial reports.
- Provide financial analysis and performance reporting to support senior management with decision making.
- Manage project and job costing to ensure accurate revenue and cost recognition across contracts and projects.
- Ensure compliance with all statutory reporting requirements and relevant accounting standards.
- Act as the main point of contact for external auditors and accountants.
- Lead the budgeting and forecasting process, including cash flow forecasting and scenario planning.
- Provide commercial support including pricing, margin analysis and contract profitability.
- Maintain and improve financial controls, processes and systems across the business.
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, VAT, corporation tax and payroll processes.
- Support headcount planning, labour cost analysis and overall business planning.
- Work closely with senior leadership to provide financial insight and support strategic planning.
Candidate Requirements:
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).
- Previous experience in a Financial Controller or senior finance role.
- Strong financial reporting and technical accounting knowledge.
- Experience managing or overseeing payroll and financial compliance.
- Strong Excel and financial systems experience.
- Confident communicator with the ability to work with senior stakeholders across the business.
- Hands on approach with the ability to work both strategically and operationally.
- Commercially minded with strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
