A full-time Maths Teacher position is available at an outstanding independent residential special school in Haywards Heath, West Sussex, starting in September 2026. The salary is up to UPS3 (dependent on experience) plus a SEN Allowance of £2,787 per annum. This is a permanent role with a working pattern of Monday to Friday, term time only.
The successful candidate will teach Maths across Key Stages 3 and 4, delivering engaging lessons that inspire and support young people with a range of additional needs. Previous experience in a SEND environment is not essential, as full training and ongoing professional development will be provided, alongside a well-established ECT programme for those at the start of their teaching career.
The school provides education for children and young people aged 9–18 with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). Pupils have a range of needs including:
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
- Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
- ADHD
- Dyslexia
- Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD)
- Cognitive and processing needs
The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, resilient, and committed to making a positive difference to the lives and futures of young people. They will work closely with an established Maths department and be flexible in their teaching approach to meet individual learning needs while delivering the National Curriculum and a range of qualifications.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential

- An interest in SEND, with a willingness to learn and develop specialist skills
