Supply Chain Team Lead

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a hands-on Supply Chain Team Leader to join a growing UK business based in Poole. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced supply chain professional looking to take the next step in their career, combining day-to-day team leadership with responsibility for ordering, import planning and post-import supply chain activities. Reporting directly into the Supply Chain Manager, you’ll take ownership of the operational delivery of the supply chain team, ensuring orders are planned accurately, suppliers are managed effectively and stock is available in line with business requirements. You’ll play a key role in coordinating the team, prioritising workloads, monitoring supplier and import activity, and ensuring supply chain processes are followed accurately and efficiently. Poole, Dorset ???? £35,000 - £40,000 Key Responsibilities Lead and supervise the day-to-day activities of the supply chain team, ensuring operational requirements are completed accurately and on time Allocate and prioritise workloads across the team to meet business requirements and deadlines Conduct regular one-to-one meetings and performance reviews, supporting team development and addressing performance or capability issues Ensure team members are appropriately trained and competent to carry out their responsibilities Review and authorise purchase orders within delegated authority Oversee post-order management activities with overseas suppliers Monitor supplier critical paths from order placement through to delivery, including production, shipment, container movements and delivery scheduling Identify, manage and escalate supply risks, delays, shortages and delivery issues Ensure supply chain data is accurate, complete and up to date across relevant systems Review operational and supply chain reports before distribution Maintain accurate records to support traceability, reporting and audit requirements Provide regular operational updates and exception reporting to the Supply Chain Manager Ensure supply chain activities comply with ISO 9001 requirements and internal controls Support internal and external audits by providing relevant information and records Identify recurring operational issues and raise improvement actions Support the implementation of approved process improvements and changes across the team What We’re Looking For Proven experience working within a supply chain, imports or stock control environment Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise workloads and manage competing deadlines Experience managing suppliers at an operational level Experience monitoring order progress and resolving delivery or supply issues Strong understanding of purchase ordering processes, lead times and stock requirements Knowledge of import processes and supplier critical path management Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy Ability to analyse and interpret operational data and reports Confident written and verbal communication skills Strong Microsoft Excel and reporting skills Ability to work within established processes, controls and procedures A genuine interest in developing your supply chain career and taking on increased responsibility over time Experience working in a controlled or regulated environment would be advantageous Whats on offer Hybrid working 25 days annual leave + BH Health and well-being support Ongoing training and development opportunities Free on-site parking Employee discounts and company rewards A supportive environment that encourages ideas, development and progression Genuine long-term career progression, with the potential to develop into a Supply Chain Manager role This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Supply Chain professional who enjoys being hands-on, leading a team and ensuring operational supply chain activity runs smoothly.
