We’re supporting a well-established, commercially progressive organisation in Hampshire with the hire of an experienced Procurement Category Manager - IT & Digital on a 12‑18 month fixed‑term contract.
Operating with a commercially minded and flexible approach, the organisation is not constrained by traditional public sector frameworks, enabling a more agile, innovative, and outcome‑focused procurement function across technology and digital spend.
The Role
This is a key strategic procurement position responsible for shaping and delivering category strategy across IT and Digital services. You’ll work closely with IT, Digital, Cyber Security, and wider stakeholders to ensure procurement solutions are aligned to business needs, transformation goals, and long‑term operational resilience.
You’ll play a pivotal role in delivering value, managing supplier risk, and supporting digital transformation across areas such as cloud, software, infrastructure, SaaS, and managed services.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver procurement strategies across IT & Digital categories (software, cloud, infrastructure, hardware, applications, and managed services)
- Lead complex sourcing activity including tendering, negotiation, and contract award
- Act as a trusted commercial partner to IT and Digital leadership, influencing decisions and challenging requirements where appropriate
- Establish and manage frameworks and commercial models supporting digital transformation and technology programmes
- Drive cost savings, service improvements, and risk reduction across IT suppliers and contracts
- Lead supplier rationalisation, standardisation, and performance management
- Strengthen governance, contract management, and procurement best practice across IT spend
About You
- Proven experience in IT / Digital / Technology procurement
- Strong track record delivering complex sourcing and contract negotiations
- Solid understanding of IT services including cloud, SaaS, infrastructure, and software licensing
- Confident stakeholder manager with strong influencing and advisory skills
- Experience improving supplier performance, driving value, and supporting transformation programmes
- Ideally CIPS qualified (or working towards)
