Overview:

Talent Drive are pleased to be supporting an excellent opportunity working with a family owned food service business who are going from strength to strength and have exciting growth plans. This business are a leader within the Fresh Produce space and due to recent success are expanding their team to hire a new Procurement Category Manager.

As a Procurement Category Manager for Fresh Produce you will be part of the team that is responsible for sourcing, negotiating and purchasing fresh produce for the organisation. You will be tasked with developing the category strategies for the allocated categories within the overall fresh produce category.

What the role involves:

  • Finding potential suppliers, visiting, and meeting existing suppliers, building, and maintaining relationships.
  • Negotiate best price on key product categories ensuring quality and technical requirements are met.
  • Managing Suppliers relationships both home and abroad.
  • Managing key internal relationships with supply chain, sales, operations, logistics and quality teams.
  • Communicate with suppliers to ensure delivery requirements are met.
  • Research and source new products.
  • Ensure suppliers performance managed to meet requirements.
  • Supporting sales and NPD (New Product Development) activities.

The person we hope to find:

  • Previous Fresh Produce procurement category experience (ideally at least 5 years), preferably in Foodservice, Wholesale or FMCG environment
  • Strong capability in analysis and use of Microsoft Excel.
  • Great at stakeholder management across the business, comfortable in front of customers, suppliers and senior management
  • Utilising Category Management or Sourcing processes.
  • Excellent analytical and negotiation skills.
  • Strong commercial and market awareness.
