Overview
A major public sector organisation is seeking an experienced Senior Category Manager to support the ongoing transformation of their procurement function, with a specialist focus on the Estates category. This role offers the chance to influence new ways of working, drive strategic procurement improvements, and shape category strategies across a broad range of Estates-related services, capital projects, and FM activity.
With only 2 days per week required on-site, this opportunity provides excellent flexibility while still allowing strong engagement with stakeholders and project teams. Key Responsibilities
• Lead and deliver a strategic portfolio of Estates-focused sourcing and contract management projects as part of a modernising procurement function.
• Develop category strategies that support the organisation’s transformation goals, ensuring value, innovation, and long-term sustainability.
• Manage competitive tendering, supplier engagement, and commercial negotiations across Estates, construction and FM categories.
• Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders, ensuring procurement is embedded early and aligned to organisational plans.
• Undertake detailed market analysis, identifying framework routes, supply chain opportunities, and emerging market trends.
• Support the creation of new procurement processes, templates, and best-practice approaches as part of the wider transformation journey.
• Drive enhanced supplier performance through effective contract life cycle management.
Skills & Experience Required
• Estates category procurement experience is essential, ideally covering construction, capital works, FM or property-related services.
• Strong understanding of public sector procurement, including experience delivering compliant, regulated procurement projects.
• Proven ability to influence and build credibility with stakeholders during periods of change or transformation.
• Skilled in supplier relationship management, commercial negotiation, and delivering demonstrable value for money.
• Highly organised, adaptable and comfortable working across multiple projects.
• Experience with PCR or similar regulated frameworks is beneficial.
