An exciting opportunity has arisen with a leading food business who are looking to welcome a Category Buyer to their team. You will manage the full procurement process from sourcing all the way through to onboarding suppliers and managing those relationships. You will be responsible for analysing market trends and using the data to create and implement category strategy, in line with the wider business needs.
You will directly liaise with stakeholders, using your influence to address and meet the needs of your category. You will also collaborate with the rest of the procurement team and other stakeholders to ensure success.
What the role involves:
- Manage all stages of the procurement process from implementing strategy, to the tendering process, all the way through to supplier relationship management.
- Monitoring and rationalising the supplier base.
- Owning and managing key food categories.
- Negotiating prices and terms with suppliers and manufacturers.
The person we hope to find:
- Experience in Food procurement/sourcing, ideally within Grocery and/or Dairy.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Strong communication and relationship management skills.
- Knowledge of retail or food industry.
Salary and Benefits:
- Up to £40,000 per annum + bonus scheme.
