Financial Controller
Location: Hybrid – North East Somerset office with home working two days per week
Salary: Competitive, with up to 10% bi-annual bonus
Benefits: Flexitime | 25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays
About Our Client
Our client is a successful and rapidly expanding online retailer, offering a wide range of premium consmer goods from well-known global brands.
They have a close-knit team based in modern offices in North East Somerset and have recently achieved a number of exciting milestones, including:
- Expanding into new international markets
- Launching a dedicated discount retail channel
- Forming an exclusive partnership with a high end brand
With strong momentum, they are now looking for a commercially minded Financial Controller to help shape the next stage of their growth.
The Role
This is a hands-on role, perfect for someone who enjoys both the detail and the big picture and wants to help finance be a true partner to the business. You will lead their finance function day to day while also influencing strategy and decision-making at a senior level. You’ll manage and develop a small team, streamline financial operations, and provide the insights that help the business grow effectively.
What You’ll Be Doing
Team Leadership
- Manage and develop the finance team
- Set clear goals and provide ongoing coaching and support
Finance Operations
- Oversee all aspects of transactional finance, including supplier payments, reconciliations, and credit control
- Run monthly payroll and pension submissions, including adjustments
Financial Systems & Controls
- Maintain and improve robust financial processes and internal controls
- Make best use of ERP (NetSuite) and associated systems
Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare accurate monthly management accounts and KPI reporting
- Manage cash flow forecasting and banking relationships
Compliance & Year-End
- Oversee VAT, statutory and regulatory filings
- Lead the year-end process in conjunction with external accountants
Business Partnering
- Work closely with senior leadership to support decision-making
- Provide commercial insight and help shape the overall business strategy
What We’re Looking For
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) or qualified by experience
- Strong commercial acumen and an analytical mindset
- Demonstrated experience leading and developing a finance team
- Excellent Excel skills and attention to detail
- Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite an advantage)
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
