We are working with a well-established heavy engineering manufacturer who design and build specialist transport equipment used across the UK and Europe.

The Role

You will be part of a busy design team, responsible for developing new product ideas and refining existing designs to improve performance, efficiency, and manufacturability. Day to day, you will be:

  • Turning concepts into detailed designs ready for production
  • Re-engineering existing designs to improve build efficiency and reduce manufacturing time
  • Producing engineering drawings and production specifications
  • Writing and presenting technical reports where needed
  • Working closely with production to ensure designs are practical and buildable
  • Contributing to design reviews to ensure the best outcome for the customer
  • Applying continuous improvement and lean thinking to your work
  • Occasionally getting involved in customer or sales meetings

What You’ll Need

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar
  • 3+ years design experience in an industrial environment

Nice to Have (Not Essential)

  • Experience with FEA and stress/loading calculations
  • Understanding of fatigue and structural design principles
  • Exposure to heavy engineering, trailers, or similar equipment
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and fabrication
