We are working with a well-established heavy engineering manufacturer who design and build specialist transport equipment used across the UK and Europe.
The Role
You will be part of a busy design team, responsible for developing new product ideas and refining existing designs to improve performance, efficiency, and manufacturability. Day to day, you will be:
- Turning concepts into detailed designs ready for production
- Re-engineering existing designs to improve build efficiency and reduce manufacturing time
- Producing engineering drawings and production specifications
- Writing and presenting technical reports where needed
- Working closely with production to ensure designs are practical and buildable
- Contributing to design reviews to ensure the best outcome for the customer
- Applying continuous improvement and lean thinking to your work
- Occasionally getting involved in customer or sales meetings
What You’ll Need
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar
- 3+ years design experience in an industrial environment
Nice to Have (Not Essential)
- Experience with FEA and stress/loading calculations
- Understanding of fatigue and structural design principles
- Exposure to heavy engineering, trailers, or similar equipment
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and fabrication
