Salary: £35,000 - £45,000

We are working with a well-established heavy engineering manufacturer who design and build specialist transport equipment used across the UK and Europe.

The Role:

  • You will be part of a busy design team, responsible for developing new product ideas and refining existing designs to improve performance, efficiency, and manufacturability.
  • Turning concepts into detailed designs ready for production.
  • Re-engineering existing designs to improve build efficiency and reduce manufacturing time.
  • Producing engineering drawings and production specifications.
  • Writing and presenting technical reports where needed.
  • Working closely with production to ensure designs are practical and buildable.
  • Contributing to design reviews to ensure the best outcome for the customer.
  • Applying continuous improvement and lean thinking to your work.
  • Occasionally getting involved in customer or sales meetings.

What You’ll Need:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar.
  • 3+ years design experience in an industrial environment.

Nice to Have (Not Essential):

  • Experience with FEA and stress/loading calculations.
  • Understanding of fatigue and structural design principles.
  • Exposure to heavy engineering, trailers, or similar equipment.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and fabrication.
