About the Role
On behalf of our client, a leading global manufacturer of heavy machinery, we are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Dungannon. You will be responsible for developing machinery concepts from initial specification through to production-ready designs.
Key Responsibilities
- Create 3D CAD models, fabrication drawings, and comprehensive Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Design robust mechanical components, structural weldments, and hydraulic systems.
- Conduct FEA simulations and structural calculations to ensure product durability.
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to optimise designs for assembly (DFMA).
- Manage engineering change notices (ECNs) to update and improve existing product lines.
Experience and Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- 3+ years of experience in a heavy manufacturing or materials handling environment.
- Proficient in 3D CAD software (such as SolidWorks or Creo) and PDM systems.
- Strong understanding of steel fabrication, welding symbols, and machining tolerances.
- Valid, clean UK driving licence.
