We are working with a well-established heavy engineering manufacturer who design and build specialist transport equipment used across the UK and Europe.
The Role:
- You will be part of a busy design team, responsible for developing new product ideas and refining existing designs to improve performance, efficiency, and manufacturability.
- Turning concepts into detailed designs ready for production.
- Re-engineering existing designs to improve build efficiency and reduce manufacturing time.
- Producing engineering drawings and production specifications.
- Writing and presenting technical reports where needed.
- Working closely with production to ensure designs are practical and buildable.
- Contributing to design reviews to ensure the best outcome for the customer.
- Applying continuous improvement and lean thinking to your work.
- Occasionally getting involved in customer or sales meetings.
What You Will Need:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar.
- 3+ years design experience in an industrial environment.
Nice to Have (Not Essential):
- Experience with FEA and stress/loading calculations.
- Understanding of fatigue and structural design principles.
- Exposure to heavy engineering, trailers, or similar equipment.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and fabrication.
