MOT Tester

Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced MOT Tester to join a busy and professional workshop in Rochdale.

Working within a fast-paced environment, you will be responsible for carrying out MOT testing across a varied range of vehicles, ensuring each vehicle is assessed accurately and in line with DVSA standards.

Alongside MOT testing, there will also be the opportunity to get involved with general servicing, maintenance and repair work where required.

This role would suit an experienced MOT Tester or Vehicle Technician with a strong understanding of MOT testing procedures, good attention to detail and a professional approach to vehicle safety and compliance.

  • The Main Purpose of the Role
  • Carry out MOT tests in line with current DVSA standards and regulations.
  • Accurately assess vehicles and identify any defects or areas requiring attention.
  • Complete MOT preparation and re-testing where required.
  • Carry out servicing and general maintenance work on cars or small vans.
  • Undertake brake, clutch and general mechanical repairs as required.
  • Diagnose electrical faults and identify issues using appropriate diagnostic equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records of MOT tests, repairs and vehicle inspections.
  • Communicate any additional repair requirements clearly to the workshop team.
  • Ensure all work is completed to a high standard while maintaining vehicle safety.
  • Work efficiently to minimise vehicle downtime and keep vehicles on the road.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and organised testing and workshop environment.
  • Keep up to date with changes to MOT legislation, testing standards and procedures. You Will Have
  • A valid MOT Tester qualification and licence.
  • Previous experience working as an MOT Tester within a busy workshop environment.
  • Strong knowledge of current MOT testing standards and DVSA requirements.
  • Good mechanical knowledge and the ability to carry out general repairs and servicing.
  • Experience with brakes, clutches and MOT preparation.
  • Good electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent is essential.
  • EV / Hybrid experience would be desirable. Benefits
