Automotive Service & Workshop Coordinator
Location: Peterborough Salary: Up to Β£38,000 per annum + Benefits Hours: Monday β Friday, 8:00am β 6:00pm
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Automotive Service & Workshop Coordinator to join a busy automotive repair business in Peterborough.
This is a varied position that goes beyond a traditional Service Advisor role.
The successful candidate will be customer-facing while also supporting the wider workshop operation, including parts, workshop loading and workshop control.
The role would suit an experienced Service Advisor, Workshop Controller, Aftersales Advisor or automotive professional with strong vehicle knowledge.
Candidates who have progressed from a workshop or technician background into a customer-facing role would be particularly well suited.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the main point of contact for customers throughout the repair process.
- Book vehicles into the workshop and set up repair jobs.
- Manage workshop loading and help ensure jobs are allocated effectively.
- Monitor vehicle progress and support day-to-day workshop control.
- Liaise with technicians and the wider workshop team.
- Assist with parts ordering, availability and coordination.
- Keep customers regularly updated and manage expectations.
- Explain repairs, technical information and automotive terminology to customers.
- Deal with customer queries and resolve concerns professionally.
- Maintain accurate job records and documentation.
- Finalise invoices and complete vehicle handovers.
- Support the wider team across different areas of the business.
- Adapt to changing requirements and future developments within the automotive industry.
- The Ideal Candidate
- Previous experience within the automotive industry.
- Service Advisor, Workshop Controller, Technician or similar experience.
- Good knowledge of vehicle repairs and workshop processes.
- Strong understanding of automotive terminology.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Good knowledge of workshop workflow and vehicle loading.
- Ideally, some understanding of vehicle parts and parts coordination.
- Strong organisational and prioritisation skills.
- Confident using IT and workshop management systems.
- Comfortable wearing several hats and supporting different areas of the operation.
