Introduction:
TCS Consulting is supporting a specialist UK-based electronic components business in the search for a Field Applications Engineer to support customers and sales teams across the UK. This is a customer-facing technical role focused on supporting design-in activity, identifying new opportunities and providing application-level guidance on electronic component selection. The role would suit someone with a strong electronic or electrical engineering background and experience within the electronic components industry.
Responsibilities:
- Act as a technical resource for customers and the wider sales team, supporting technically demanding applications across sectors such as aerospace, defence, space, rail, industrial and harsh-environment markets.
- Work closely with internal sales, product specialists, engineering teams, quality teams and franchised manufacturers to support long-term customer opportunities.
- Provide technical and commercial support to customers across the UK.
- Support design-in activity, qualification projects and component selection.
- Attend customer meetings, site visits, exhibitions and supplier visits.
- Identify and develop new business opportunities across existing and prospective accounts.
- Work with internal teams and supplier contacts to coordinate customer support.
- Maintain accurate opportunity, activity, visit report and forecast records.
Requirements:
- Experience in field applications, applications engineering, technical sales, field sales engineering or product support within the electronic components industry.
- Comfortable discussing component applications with engineering, procurement and commercial stakeholders, while identifying opportunities and supporting long-term customer relationships.
- Strong understanding of electronic and/or electromechanical components and applications.
- Experience supporting customer design activity and technical opportunity development.
- Knowledge of components such as passives, magnetics, power products, EMC, RF, sensors or semiconductors.
- Ability to communicate with engineering, procurement and commercial stakeholders.
- Full clean UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly across the UK.
