Introduction:
We are recruiting for a Manufacturing Engineer to join an established engineering and manufacturing business in Cramlington. This is a hands-on manufacturing engineering role focused on improving processes, supporting production performance and driving continuous improvement across a busy industrial site. The role would suit someone with experience in manufacturing engineering, process improvement or industrial engineering who enjoys solving technical problems and improving efficiency, quality and output.
Responsibilities:
- Support the stability, performance and development of manufacturing operations.
- Work closely with production, quality and maintenance teams to improve processes, analyse performance data and implement practical engineering solutions across forging and machining operations.
- Improve and optimise manufacturing processes to increase efficiency, quality and output.
- Provide engineering support to production teams and resolve technical shopfloor issues.
- Analyse OEE, scrap, downtime and rework data to identify improvement opportunities.
- Support root cause analysis, corrective actions and structured problem-solving activity.
- Create and maintain SOPs, control plans, work instructions and process documentation.
- Support process validation, new product introduction, tooling readiness and production trials.
Requirements:
- Experience in manufacturing engineering or process improvement within an industrial, automotive, heavy engineering or regulated manufacturing environment.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing setting and able to balance practical shopfloor support with structured improvement work.
- Degree, HNC or HND in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Production Engineering or similar.
- Experience within manufacturing, industrial, automotive or heavy engineering environments.
- CAD experience with the ability to read, interpret or update technical drawings.
- Strong understanding of process optimisation and Lean manufacturing principles.
- Experience improving production performance and resolving technical manufacturing issues.
- Knowledge of OEE, scrap, downtime, rework and structured problem-solving tools.
- Practical, analytical and solutions-focused approach with strong communication skills.
