TCS Consulting is supporting a global leader in scientific instrumentation in the search for a Technical Sales Specialist to join their growing Nano Surfaces & Metrology division. This is an opportunity to represent industry-leading technologies used by researchers, engineers, manufacturers and scientists across the UK and Ireland. You will work with cutting-edge instrumentation used within materials science, semiconductor manufacturing, advanced engineering, life sciences and academic research.

Their technologies enable scientists and engineers to explore materials, surfaces and biological systems at molecular, cellular and microscopic levels, supporting innovation across research, development and manufacturing environments. The Nano Surfaces & Metrology division specialises in advanced surface measurement and materials characterisation technologies, supporting customers within academia, semiconductor manufacturing, advanced materials, industrial research and life sciences.

As Technical Sales Specialist, you will take ownership of a UK & Ireland territory, developing both existing customer relationships and new business opportunities. You will work closely with application specialists and technical experts to provide consultative solutions that help customers achieve their research and manufacturing objectives.

Your Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute territory sales growth strategies
  • Manage and grow existing customer accounts
  • Generate and qualify new business opportunities
  • Conduct customer meetings, presentations and demonstrations
  • Deliver technical workshops, seminars and training events
  • Attend industry conferences and exhibitions
  • Work closely with applications and technical support teams
  • Maintain accurate CRM records and sales forecasts
  • Build long-term relationships with key customers and stakeholders
  • Achieve and exceed sales targets across your territory
  • Monitor competitor activity and market trends

You will be responsible for selling a portfolio of advanced metrology and materials characterisation solutions, including:

  • Optical Profilometry
  • Stylus Profilometry
  • Mechanical & Tribological Testing Systems
  • Ellipsometry
  • Reflectometry
  • Surface Measurement Technologies
  • Accessories, Software and System Upgrades

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • Degree qualified in Materials Science, Engineering, Physics, Chemistry or a related scientific discipline
  • Strong understanding of surface measurement, materials characterisation or scientific instrumentation
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Self-motivated and capable of managing your own territory
  • Strong commercial awareness and customer-facing skills
  • Ability to build long-term customer relationships
  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable

  • Previous experience selling scientific instrumentation or metrology equipment
  • Experience with: Profilometry, AFM, Surface Analysis, Tribology, Ellipsometry, Reflectometry, Microscopy
  • PhD qualification in a relevant scientific discipline
  • Experience working within academia, research institutes or advanced manufacturing environments

Additional Information
