Talent by Sears is acting on behalf of their client who are looking for a Deputy Manager to join their team in Cannock. The Deputy Manager will need to have previous experience of working within a Children’s Residential setting caring for those with Learning Disabilities. The company specialises in the care of children between the ages of 8-18, with Learning Disabilities (LD) and Emotional Behavioural Disorder (EBD).
Their homes are Ofsted registered to care for 2 young people and are currently all rated as “GOOD or OUTSTANDING with Ofsted”. This candidate must have sound knowledge of the Quality Care Standards that govern Children’s Residential settings and have the skills and qualities needed in providing the high quality of care to the children residing at the home.
Some of the duties and responsibilities held by the successful candidate include: -
- Assist the Registered Manager in overseeing daily operations within children’s residential or foster care settings, ensuring adherence to Ofsted standards and policies.
- Lead and supervise care staff, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance evaluations to promote professional development.
- Support the development and implementation of individualized care plans that meet each child's unique needs, including those requiring specialized support such as dementia or Alzheimer’s care.
- Ensure all safeguarding procedures are rigorously followed, always maintaining a safe environment for children.
- Contribute to staff training initiatives focused on child protection, mental health awareness, and specialized care such as medication administration and managing challenging behaviours.
- Monitor compliance with legal requirements related to child welfare, health and safety regulations, and quality standards set by Ofsted.
- Collaborate with external agencies, families, and stakeholders to promote holistic support for children’s growth and development.
- Assist in managing administrative duties including record keeping, incident reporting, and updating care documentation consistently.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Candidate must hold an NVQ Level 3 in Children & Young People qualification.
- Full UK Manual Driving Licence is essential.
- Assist children with Personal Care may be required with this position due to the needs of some of the Children/Young People you will be supporting.
- Role involves 10 sleep ins per month, work 12 hour shifts, you must be able to work across 7 days per week
- Rota in 2 on 4 off rolling rota.
- All candidates will be subject to Safer Recruitment and DBS checks.
