A Trainee Quantity Surveyor position is available in North Birmingham / Staffordshire with a salary of £28,000 - £30,000 plus benefits. This full-time role accommodates those attending college or university one day a week.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a market-leading civil engineering business delivering infrastructure projects ranging from £100,000 to £50 million. You'll work alongside experienced Quantity Surveyors, Project Managers, and Engineers on real projects from day one, gaining valuable hands-on experience while receiving structured training and support.

What You'll Be Doing:
  • Assisting with project cost management and forecasting
  • Preparing and submitting valuations and applications for payment
  • Supporting the identification and valuation of variations and scope changes
  • Producing cost reports and Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs)
  • Working closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Buyers, and Contracts Managers
  • Supporting subcontractor procurement and account management
  • Processing subcontractor payments
  • Attending project and commercial meetings
  • Helping maintain accurate project records and reporting systems
  • Assisting with measurement and Bill of Quantities (BOQ) preparation
  • Visiting project sites to gain practical construction experience
  • Building strong relationships with operational and commercial teams
What We're Looking For:

We're looking for someone with the right attitude and potential rather than extensive industry experience. You may be:

  • Studying towards a Quantity Surveying degree
  • A recent Quantity Surveying graduate
  • Completing a Quantity Surveying apprenticeship
  • Looking for your first commercial role within construction or civil engineering

You'll also have:

  • A relevant Quantity Surveying qualification or be working towards one
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills
  • GCSE Maths Grade 6 (or equivalent) or above
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • A proactive approach and willingness to learn
  • A positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • The confidence to build relationships with colleagues and stakeholders
  • A desire to develop a successful long-term career within construction
Additional Requirements:
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Access to your own vehicle
  • Willingness to travel to project sites across the region (mileage will be paid)
