We are hiring on behalf of one of our clients for a Lecturer in Psychology to deliver teaching across undergraduate levels as part of a BSc (Hons) Psychology programme delivered in partnership with Bath Spa University. Due to the delivery model, flexibility is required to teach during weekdays, evenings, and weekends.
Role Purpose
The Lecturer will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and assessment, supporting student learning and progression, contributing to programme development, and maintaining academic and professional standards within higher education.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, plan, and deliver teaching sessions in line with faculty and programme requirements.
- Design assessments and assess student work, ensuring all learning outcomes are met.
- Provide timely, constructive, and developmental feedback to students.
- Offer academic support and guidance to students throughout their studies.
- Develop, review, and continuously enhance course materials.
- Embed best practice in learning, teaching, and assessment, including the effective use of educational technologies.
- Contribute to the design, development, delivery, review, and enhancement of academic programmes.
- Attend meetings and participate in academic governance and quality assurance activities.
- Build productive working relationships with internal and external academic stakeholders.
- Participate in internal and external events such as programme reviews, open days, outreach activities, and partner visits.
- Engage in continuous professional development, including teaching observations and training activities.
- Support scholarly activity and the dissemination or application of knowledge within psychology and higher education practice.
- Contribute to performance objectives related to student attendance, retention, progression, completion, and satisfaction.
- Act as a Module Leader and undertake appropriate academic or administrative responsibilities as required.
Essential Skills and Experience
- A postgraduate qualification in Psychology or equivalent academic or professional standing.
- Experience of teaching within UK higher education.
- Experience of supervising student work and providing academic support and feedback.
- Experience supporting learners in both face-to-face and remote learning environments.
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail and accurate reporting.
- Ability to maintain well-organised student records.
- Ability to manage workload effectively, meet deadlines, and work with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and IT skills (including Microsoft Office applications).
- Ability to work effectively with diverse student groups.
- Demonstrated professional conduct in all interactions with staff and students.
- Commitment to education as a transformative and inclusive activity.
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Doctoral-level qualification in Psychology or equivalent professional experience.
- Industry experience relevant to Psychology.
- Membership of the British Psychological Society (BPS) or equivalent professional body.
- Teaching qualification such as PGCHE, MA in Higher Education Practice, or Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).
