We are recruiting on behalf of one of our clients, a higher education provider, for a Lecturer in Psychology to deliver teaching across undergraduate levels on the BSc (Hons) Psychology programme in partnership with Bath Spa University (BSU). Due to the delivery model, flexibility is required to teach during weekdays, evenings, and weekends.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, plan, and deliver high-quality teaching sessions in line with Faculty requirements.
- Design assessments and assess student work, ensuring all learning outcomes are met.
- Provide timely, constructive feedback and academic guidance to students.
- Develop, update, and continuously enhance course and module materials.
- Apply best practice in learning and teaching, embedding appropriate technologies to enhance student learning.
- Contribute to the design, delivery, review, and enhancement of academic programmes.
- Attend meetings and actively contribute to academic planning and quality assurance activities.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Participate in internal and external events such as programme reviews, open days, outreach activities, and partner visits.
- Engage in reflective professional development, including teaching observations, workshops, and directed study.
- Support and contribute to the creation, application, and dissemination of knowledge within Psychology and higher education practice.
- Meet agreed performance objectives relating to student attendance, retention, progression, completion, and satisfaction.
- Act as a Module Leader and undertake relevant administrative or academic management duties, as required.
- Undertake additional responsibilities in support of academic delivery and professional development.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Postgraduate qualification in Psychology and/or a demonstrable record of scholarly or research activity.
- Experience teaching within UK higher education.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience supporting learners both face-to-face and remotely.
- Professional conduct in all interactions with students and colleagues.
- Passion for education as a transformative experience.
- Experience working in widening participation or access-focused environments.
- Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word).
- Experience supervising student work and providing academic feedback.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in reporting.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse student groups.
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Doctoral-level qualification in Psychology or equivalent professional or scholarly achievement.
- Relevant industry experience in Psychology.
- Membership of the British Psychological Society (BPS) or equivalent.
- Teaching qualification such as PGCHE, MA in Higher Education Practice, or Fellowship of the HEA (FHEA).
