Overview
Talent Agri is recruiting on behalf of a progressive, family-orientated dairy business in South Scotland for an experienced Senior Herdsperson. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-invested dairy farm extending to over 1,000 acres, running a pedigree Holstein herd of 300+ cows. Reporting directly under the Farm Manager, you will take responsibility for maintaining exceptional standards of herd health, welfare and daily herd management while supporting the continued success of the business. The farm is currently investing in a new BouMatic milking system, demonstrating its commitment to continual improvement and modern dairy farming. This role offers genuine long-term career progression, with a clear pathway to Farm Manager for the right individual.
Responsibilities
- Work directly under the Farm Manager.
- Assist with the daily management of a 300+ pedigree Holstein herd.
- Maintain the highest standards of cow health and animal welfare.
- Carry out milking and all associated herd management duties.
- Support breeding and fertility programmes.
- AI experience would be advantageous.
- Monitor herd performance and maintain accurate records.
- Assist with grassland and grazing management within a mixed farming system.
- Work with vets and nutritionists to achieve high herd performance.
